I adore teaching children how to find their first cache! They are so open-minded and enthusiastic and always ready for the chance to find hidden treasures...they are like little modern day pirates!
All in all, I believe that at this point I have taught well over 50 people how to play and of that number, more than two-thirds have been children!
Out of those 30 children, here is a post about two of my favorite mini pirates and our geocaching adventures in Cornwall!
Teaching the kids how to use my hand held GPS, they were such quick learners!
My little cache pirate learns how to use a compass!
And the search is on!
This looked like the most likely spot, but no luck.
Now for the best part! Time to trade swag and sign the log!
Up next was a micro. Here is a photo of the cache, hidden in plain sight. Can you spot it?
Well, did you see it?!
Yep, there it is, right between the metal arms holding the bolt and nut, it is a nano sized magnetic cache with a tiny log inside! The bragging rights for finding this one first goes to Mom!!
We stopped to take in the view from the Coastal Path.
Now back to adventure!
The fist pump of first finder victory!
Look at the happiness and pride in that precious face! That is look you get after being the one to shout, "found it!"
The family that plays together, stays together!
Geocaching is such a magical sport! The family had been to a castle to visit several times before, but had never thought to take the walk to the top of the hill behind the grounds. But one of the best reasons to go geocaching is to discover wonders that you have walked past all of your life without ever really seeing. We took the path to the cache and ended up at the top of the hill with the most breathtaking overview of the estate where we took a peaceful moment of refection to stop and rest as we signed the log.
It was a perfect day and will forever stand out in my mind as one of the best moments of the entire trip!
Here are a few more photos from our day out, I hope you enjoy them!
Wild ponies roaming the area
This little guy was friendly and even left me with a lovely little souvenier, a Love Nip right on the arm! haha!
