The Geocache Where Nightmares Come to Life!

I have found it!  And I don't just mean the cache.

I have found the place where all of our craziest nightmares were born! And it was magnificent!!

You just know that when this is the entertainment outside,
that the thrills inside are going to blow your mind!

If you were to look up favorite points for caches in the SF area, you would undoubtedly be led to seek out the Virtual Geocache treasure that is (GCBD0A) Laughing Sal's at Musee Mecanique on The Pier.

Put a quarter in and listen to
the laughter that will haunt your
nightmares for years to come...
in a fun way, of course!

How can I best describe can I describe this place??  If asked, I would say it is what you would get if the Inmates of Bedlam designed the Willy Wonka Factory. It is absurd! Outlandish! Grotesque! And, positively fantastic!!

If you are visiting with children, or have ever been a child yourself, this is the place that you will not want to miss. It is a jubilant fantasy of nightmarish proportions and I adored it!

So what is this place really?

Musée Mécanique is one of the world's largest (over 200) privately owned collection of coin-operated mechanical musical instruments and antique arcade machines in their original working condition. (You can play them!)  It is located on Pier 45 at the foot of Taylor Street in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf.

And I have not told you the best part....it is totally free to enter! But that being said, you will not want to go without being prepared with a pocketbook full of quarters to enjoy all of the unique and long forgotten animatronics you will find inside.

Here, let me share some of the awesome things you will see:

First of all, do you have questions about your future? Look no further!  No where else will you find so many wonderfully helpful machines just waiting to give you a well fitting generic reading!

Worried about where your letter is for Hogwarts?  Fear not! For just the small cost of a tiny quarter, you can consult the all-knowing Sorting Hat and get the answers you seek!

I wanted to be a Slytherin, but apparently I
fit very well into Ravenclaw.
If a talking hat is to be trusted that is.
Here is an example of a reading I received by being brave enough to place my hand in the mouth of the Bocca Della Verita.

Or, if you prefer "chasing the dragon" or a little Medieval torture to help you enjoy your day, then you have come to the right place...

In the mood for some detailed art involving tiny toothpicks?  Gotcha covered!

There is truly no limit to the amount of fascinating and enthralling contraptions you will find with a visit here.  Once again folks...caches that bring you to places like this and having insane fun are the entire reason I play the game!!

I will close with some more random shots from the museum/arcade:

In case you are wondering,
yes, she did wrestle him and
no, she did not win ;)

Yep, that is a dead Native American
on the ground between them

If one of them were dressed as a clown, this
might have been the epitome of
some people's nightmares!

I'll never tell!!
