Today was day one of my one week challenge to "Do One Thing Every Day". Today, I felt very uncomfortable and frightened several small children, so all in all, I would certainly call it a success!
I don't know how you like to listen to music in your car, but when I am driving, I don't just hear the music, I feel the music! We're talking a full on performance here folks, head banging and raising the roof, I rock that little Ford Taurus! Until I come to a traffic light or another car pulls up beside of me, then all of a sudden I go all Masterpiece Theatre calm.
Well, not today Peeps! Today I made it a personal challenge that whenever I came up to another car, I was gonna drop it like it's hot (not just lukewarm either, full on hot potato!). And that is exactly what I did. Whenever a car pulled up beside of me, I went into overdrive and started jamming and then would smile big and point at the other driver. When a frightened mother was not gripping the staring wheel and pointedly looking straight forward praying for the light to turn green, then this is generally the look that I received all day...
At various points throughout the day, I found throwing my head around to "Bad Medicine" by Bon Jovi and "ABC" by the Jackson 5. There were several really great and fun songs but no one wanted to play with me. That is until AC/DC started to belt out their hit "Back in Black" and I look over to see a 20 something guy staring back with his mouth hanging open. His eyes grew to the size of dinner plates when I finished shaking my shoulders, smiled and pointed over at him, then the most wonderful and glorious thing happened!!
He actually laughed and started banging his head and rocking out too! That light changed to green much too soon and I felt the warmest and happiest feeling of connecting with another human being as I watched his taillights disappear into the distance.
Thank you AC/DC for restoring my faith in the awesomeness of complete and random strangers.
And that was it for day one, not too bad of start to forcing myself to daily do something out of the ordinary. Stay posted for tomorrow's adventure and feel free to share any adventures you yourself have undertaken recently.
And remember...Be Excellent to One Another!!
